Allegro Ensemble

The Allegro Ensemble is an orchestral group for musicians - strings and woodwinds - of all ages. Conducted by Stella Bonilla, the ensemble brings together a diverse group to play a wide variety of music, from classical masterpieces to popular music.

Spring 2026 Dates

Rehearsal Dates: 8 Saturdays, 2:00 - 3:00 pm

  • January 24, 31

  • February 7, (skip 2 weeks), 28

  • March 7, 14 (Master Class), 21

  • March 28 - rehearsal 2-2:45, Performance 3:30 pm

Absence Policy: No more than 1 excused absence is acceptable per session which cannot include the master class or the performance, and must be known way in advance. Illness will be excused but this needs to be communicated as soon as possible in advance of the specific rehearsal.

Tuition: $250 for the semester (spring 2026)

Requirements

Prerequisites include:

  • Minimum one year of private lessons and currently taking lessons

  • Proficiency in keys up to 2 sharps and flats

  • Ability to play various articulations (e.g. legato, staccato)

  • Accurate rhythm and intonation  

  • Note and rhythm READING skills are essential

  • Strings: Acquaintance with at least 3rd position for violin and viola, 4th for cello

  • Strings: Vibrato highly recommended

  • Woodwinds: Ability to play the full range of the instrument (excluding the extended high range).

It is highly recommended but not required to participate in Allegro Ensemble as well as the chamber music program during the fall and spring sessions. The discount for doing both is $100, so spring 2026 total for both is $850.
